Solar Thermal

This is an efficient way to use solar radiation, and if the system is sized and used correctly can provide a large proportion of your DHW and heating for certain parts of the year. The liquid which is heated within the flat or evacuated tube panels is typically connected to a coil within a cylinder, the water within this vessel is then heated and second coil (primary heating circuit) is then blended to provide the hot water for the UFH.

Toron Systems - Suspended Floors

Our Toron flooring system turns a standard structural floor deck into an underfloor heating system. Each panel is routed with channels to accept 10mm underfloor heating pipe but can be used in exactly the same way as conventional panels, speeding up installation and keeping the actual floor thickness to a minimum.

FoilBoard ECO - Suspended Floors

The FoilBoard ECO panels are manufactured from FSC approved wood fibre insulation with a pre-bonded soft temper aluminium diffuser, making the panels easy to trim and adjust on site. The FoilBoard ECO panels are channelled to accept continuous 15mm pipe. The FoilBoard ECO panels are installed between joists so that when the floor deck is laid it will be in direct contact with the panels ensuring good thermal performance.

ClipPlate - Screeded Floors

The ClipPlate system has been purposely designed to avoid using fixings and staples in the floor and to speed up the installation of underfloor heating systems. ClipPlate is a series of interlocking sheets with an integrated 10mm expanded polystyrene insulation layer. The castellations in the panel provide grip for the pipe, whilst also providing protection from site traffic and the screed being laid.

Axios Manifold

An "A" rated circulator for lower energy use with automatic & manual air vents. Primary and return isolating valves with temperature gauges and return temperature gauge for each heating circuit. Low depth - with the circulator in place the manifold is only 150mm deep. Available with automatic bypass and with high temperature ports for radiator circuits.

Thermal Store

Thermal store cylinders are used as a store of energy for the hot water and underfloor heating system. The thermal store consists of an unvented hot water cylinder sealed inside another larger cylinder.

Ground Source Heat Pumps

Uses the solar energy absorbed by the ground to generate heat energy, this does require an electrical input to work the heatpump. The efficiency of this process is measured as the COP. The COP (efficiency) can be increased if the running temperature of the GSHP is reduced which can be done if you are using underfloor heating. Heat pumps are generally suited for new build or properties with low heatlosses when used in conjunction with UFH. A buffer vessel may be needed to allow full thermostatic zone control of the heating system.

Ground Loops

The ground source heat pump would be coupled to a series of loops placed horizontally as shown or to pipes installed vertically in a bore hole. As the temperature in the ground below 1m remains fairly constant at about 14˚C, the ground loops can be used to provide cool water in the summer for surface cooling such as a ceiling cooling system.
